History

Guests are enchanted by the hotel's history and its cosy, delicate interior. The Esplanade can trace its roots back to the beginning of the 20th century: established as a nursing home, it was later turned into a prestigious hotel.
After just a few years it became so famous that in the autumn of 1925 the German delegation chose it as the venue for the Locarno Peace Pact.
During the 50s and 60s it achieved renown as one of the most highly regarded hotels in Locarno, one where famous guests, including politicians and artists could often be found. In 1993 the hotel became a SPA hotel.
